If you’ve spent time reading An American’s Guide to Moving to Portugal, you’ve probably noticed that I don’t believe the property search should be the first decision you make.
There are plenty of things worth understanding first.
Where do you actually want to live?
What does everyday life there look like?
Do you want to walk everywhere, or are you comfortable depending on a car?
How important is access to an international school, airport, hospital, beach, golf course, or city center?
Are you ready to buy, or would renting first give you valuable experience before making that decision?
These aren’t obstacles to buying a home. They’re part of figuring out which home—and which location—actually makes sense for you.
So don’t worry if you’re still early. That’s often a very good time for us to talk.
I’ll start by reviewing what you’ve shared so I understand where you are in the process.
From there, we’ll determine what makes sense next.
That might mean talking through locations.
It might mean discussing the Portuguese buying process.
It might mean helping you think about renting versus buying.
It could mean identifying questions you should resolve before you begin looking at property.
